Big Country Bluegrass', "Open For Business", To Be Released 7/23/2008

July 14, 2008

Mountain Roads Recordings of Bristol, Tennessee announced today the release of Big Country Bluegrass' latest recording, "Open For Business" on July 23rd.

Big Country Bluegrass delivers their own style of authentic hard-driving bluegrass that makes them crowd favorites wherever they perform from festivals and concerts across this country to the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. With more than two decades of experience under their belts, the band offers the very best in traditional bluegrass music and have created their best album yet.... "Open For Business". This project presents a new energy and is their first release with Mountain Roads Recordings of Bristol, Tennessee. "Open For Business" is a combination of old standards, traditional favorites, a new song by Tom T. & Dixie Hall, "All That's Left", and two original songs by Jeff Michael, "This Time I've Learned" and an instrumental fiddle tune entitled, "Back Stop".

The Band is entering its twenty-second year in the business and this album demonstrated their outstanding musicianship and vocals. Each Member possesses a unique style that, when combined, comes together in a performance that is their very best yet ! The band is comprised of Tommy Sells on mandolin, Teresa Sells on rhythm guitar and vocals, Alan Mastin on acoustic upright bass fiddle, Jeff Michael on fiddle, rhythm guitar, clawhammer banjo and vocals, Lynwood Lunsford on banjo lead guitar and vocals and Johnny Williams on rhythm guitar and vocals.

The lead song on the cd, "High Alleghenies", features the lead vocals of Jeff Michael along with high baritone by Teresa Sells and tenor by Johnny Williams; this song showcases the beautiful harmonies and drive of this group. "All That's Left" is a new song by Tom T. & Dixie Hall and is featured on a compilation cd of their songs that was distributed to radio stations nationwide and been receiving airplay for nearly a month now. Lead vocals are by Jeff Michael with tenor by Teresa Sells. Jeff's unique lead lead vocals can be heard on "Ghost Of A Love", "This Time I've Learned", "Weary Traveler", "I'll Never Dream No More My Darling", "Old Time Preacher Man", "Old Kentucky Shore" and "The Bible's True", an old time traditional attributed to Uncle Dave Macon. Johnny Williams does an excellent job on lead with "Nashville Jail" and "Just Another Broken Heart". Teresa leads "I've Lost You" and "I Guess I'll Go On Dreaming" are beautiful. Lynwood's banjo is great on an old Don Reno tune, "Banjo Riff". He and Jeff work together on "The Bible's True"; the combination of three-finger and clawhammer banjos is outstanding. Lynwood is one of the few banjo players out there today who still knows that the backup work is every bit as important as the lead playing. He also makes a fine contribution in lead guitar and baritone singing. He and Johnny Williams have added a greater dimension to Big Country Bluegrass.

Fans may pre-order the cd from Big Country Bluegrass at www/bigcountrybluegrass.com for $15.00 plus $2 shipping & handling. The cd will be available at CDBaby, I-Tunes and other outlets within the next few weeks. A show and party celebrating the new release is scheduled for Applewood Music Park in Cana, Virginia on July 26, 2008. Tickets may be purchased by calling Applewood Music Park at (336) 325-0230.
